REVIEW 2006  December 2006

Long time we wished to visit Elizabeth (Liz) and Mikael in Virginia. Mikael has often invited us, but we have said, “We will come in the springtime”. In April I called and said, “We are coming”. It turned out that Liz & Mikael just had decided to marry on June 2. Therefore, there was no discussion about when we should come. We traveled to Washington D.C., situated about 3 hours driving from Crozet, Charlottesville, where they live. We flew with Icelandair via Reykjavik and had a two days stopover to visit my sister daughter, Bolette and her family. – The Virginia’s nature in this area is very beautiful with hilly green fields and woods. The people are keeping their places nicely. We stayed in a rural hotel, not far from Liz & Mikael’s house. The wedding took place the day after our arrival. All guests drove up in the mountains, parked the cars and walked 15 minutes downhill to a lovely rhododendron grove. There was a creek passing with a catwalk. All the guests were sitting on the catwalk, the legs dangled, while watching the wedding ceremony. Not an eye was dry. See photo! After the wedding a luxury pick-nick was prepared, which we all enjoyed in a near by park. The next day Liz and Mikael had a lovely garden party in their newly bought house. – We stayed for two weeks and visited the different tourist attractions in the nearness. Including Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. We also visited Liz’s parents, Betsy and Bruce Taylor in their home in Edgewater, Maryland and enjoyed their endless hospitality. When we were going home, the flight was overbooked. We volunteered and got business class ticket the next day and in addition a free travel to the U.S.A. for both of us. – Home again it was soon time for our yearly biking tour in Germany. This year we biked from Travemünde to Rostock, about 200 miles. The wind was blowing in the wrong direction, but we had fun anyway. – In August Liz & Mikael came over with Liz’s parents for two week’s. The wedding was celebrated with family and friends from Denmark and Sweden on the 5th of August. – After that it became my own birthday and we had a garden party here with family and friends. I’m very happy, satisfied and grateful for the celebration, flowers, present’s and of course to see the family and friends here. Also a thank you to the sun! – Our children are doing well, but they have all more than enough to do. Our 11 grandchildren are what give us the most happiness of course. Six of them are in the foreign, but we see them anyway sometimes. We send you our very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
